⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ La Piedad Taqueria I ordered four tacos — carnitas, steak, and al pastor — and everything was amazing. The flavors were incredible, the ingredients tasted fresh, and the quality was excellent. Each taco was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor. Definitely one of the best taco experiences I’ve had. The service was outstanding as well. My waiter, Diego, was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and provided amazing service from start to finish. Highly recommend!
Overview
Walking into La Piedad Taqueria feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that knows exactly what it’s doing and doesn’t try to overcomplicate things. Located at 620 Sunburst Hwy, Cambridge, MD 21613, United States, this taqueria has quietly built a reputation among locals and road-trippers alike for serving food that’s straightforward, comforting, and rooted in real Mexican cooking traditions. The moment you scan the menu, it’s clear that the focus is on flavor and consistency rather than trends.
On one of my first visits, I watched the kitchen during a busy lunch rush. Orders came in fast, yet every plate went out looking deliberate and well put together. That kind of efficiency doesn’t happen by accident. In many traditional taquerias, prep starts early, with meats marinated overnight and salsas blended fresh each morning. According to culinary research published by the Culinary Institute of America, slow marination and controlled cooking temperatures significantly improve flavor absorption in meats, which explains why the tacos here taste rich without being heavy. You can see that process reflected in how the carne asada stays tender and the al pastor carries a balanced mix of spice and sweetness.
The menu covers the classics: tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and plates that pair proteins with rice and beans. Nothing feels like filler. Each item seems designed to stand on its own. A regular customer once told me they stop in twice a week because they know exactly what they’re getting every time. Consistency is a big deal in the restaurant world. Data from the National Restaurant Association shows that repeat customers are more likely to return when food quality is predictable and service is efficient, both of which show signify strong operational discipline. That reliability shows up clearly in reviews, where guests often mention how the flavors never drift and portions stay generous.
One thing that stands out is how approachable the staff is. They’re quick to explain differences between menu items, especially for customers who might not be familiar with traditional Mexican street food. That kind of interaction builds trust. From a professional standpoint, customer engagement like this is often cited by hospitality experts as a key driver of positive dining experiences. Danny Meyer, a well-known restaurateur, frequently emphasizes that hospitality is just as important as the food itself, and that philosophy feels alive here.
The location also plays a role in the diner’s appeal. Sitting along Sunburst Highway makes it easy to access, whether you’re local or just passing through Cambridge. It’s the type of place you can pop into for a casual lunch or bring family to for an unfussy dinner. Reviews often highlight how welcoming the atmosphere is, which aligns with broader consumer behavior studies showing that diners value comfort and authenticity over flashy decor.
That said, there are a few limitations worth noting. Seating can feel tight during peak hours, and if you’re visiting during a rush, takeout might be the smoother option. Also, while the menu does its job well, those looking for experimental or fusion-style dishes might find it intentionally traditional. Still, that’s part of its identity, and it’s why so many people keep coming back.
Overall, the experience here reflects a deep understanding of what a local taqueria should be: good food made with care, served by people who know their craft, and supported by systems that prioritize consistency. Whether you’re checking reviews before your first visit or already have a go-to order, this spot fits naturally into Cambridge’s dining scene without trying to be anything it’s not.

The restaurant is small and intimate but the food is incredible to start the chips and salsa is incredible with the salsa being made in house the aguas de sabor are made in house and delicious and to top it off the sopes were to die for
Absolutely Delicious – A Must-Try Spot! We had the Texas fajitas, Burritos La Piedad, steak quesadilla, and the strawberry lemonade—and everything was incredible. The Texas fajitas came sizzling hot and packed with perfectly seasoned meat and veggies. The burrito was flavorful, filling, and had that homemade touch that makes a huge difference. The steak quesadilla was cheesy, tender, and grilled just right. And the strawberry lemonade? So refreshing—just the right balance of sweet and tart. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. You can tell they put care into every dish. We’ll definitely be back!!!
We really enjoyed this place. We had the fajitas, tacos, and quesabirria. All were very good. Salsa was flavorful. Service was good. I would definitely recommend this place.
The food was exquisite!! Portions were amazing! Nice atmosphere and helpful staff. I will definitely go back here!!!
It is a good place, as I have always traveled to many states, but here I have found a second place where the carnitas taste very good and they serve you very kindly, the boy who attended us treated us very well.
I got the veggie burrito and it was really good! The veggies are perfectly sautéed and seasoned! They put melted cheese on top and it comes with rice and salad on the side, absolutely delicious!!
A little tight inside, but some sitting room for eating there. The lemonade was the best ive ever had. We got the shrimp enchiladas and the king burrito. Both very delicious. I will say the white sauce was overly salted. Tasted like the cap fell off on accident. But probably just an accident. The street corn was the best we've had. Absolutely will come again!
